washburn-b9-americana-series-5-string-banjo-sunburst
Washburn B9 Americana 5 String Resonator Banjo Sunburst

If you are working on bluegrass rolls and want the sound to project out toward the room, the Washburn B9 Americana is a 5 string resonator banjo worth considering. Its mahogany resonator and aluminum rim give you a traditional starting point for picked banjo parts, whether you are learning a tune at home or working it up with other players.

The mahogany neck and geared fifth string tuner keep the layout familiar for a 5 string player. That geared tuner gives you more control when making small tuning adjustments on the short fifth string. The Sunburst gloss finish completes the instrument without changing what matters most: finding a setup that feels comfortable and lets your notes speak clearly.

Work on the part, not just the speed

For rolling accompaniment, start with an even pulse and listen to the balance between your thumb and fingers. The resonator format is a useful choice when projection matters, but your picking touch still does much of the work. If you are comparing this with an open back banjo, tell us what music you want to play so we can help you weigh the differences.

Product details

Brand: Washburn

Series: Americana

Model: B9

Format: 5 string resonator banjo

Resonator: Mahogany

Rim: Aluminum

Neck: Mahogany

Tension hoop: 11 inch grooved

Tailpiece: Traditional style

Fifth string tuner: Geared

Strings: D'Addario

Finish: Sunburst gloss

Buying your first banjo or shopping for someone else?
