Make Your Bass Talk.

The Electro-Harmonix Bassballs has been on funk and disco records since the 1970s for one reason: nothing else sounds like it. Two tuned filters sweep simultaneously in response to how hard you play, creating that vocal, talking bass character that sits in a completely different sonic space from a standard wah or single-filter envelope pedal. Play soft and you get a subtle quack. Dig in and the filters open up into something that sounds like your bass is trying to say something.

The touch-sensitive design means your playing technique is the control. No expression pedal needed. The harder you attack, the more the filters sweep. Back off your touch and the effect gets subtle. It responds the way a good effect should, like an extension of how you play rather than something you're fighting with.

The Distortion knob adds fuzz to the filtered signal when you want to get into weirder territory. Fuzzy filtered envelope tones are their own thing entirely and the Bassballs handles it well. Two knobs total. Sensitivity and Distortion. Simple to dial in, a lot of range once you start exploring.
