The LTD EC-400 QM is the guitar you buy when you want a single cut with real hardware and real pickups without paying custom shop prices. Quilted maple top over a mahogany body, set neck construction, and EMG 81 and 60 active pickups. That combination covers a lot of ground, from tight high gain rhythm playing to singing lead tones, and the See Thru Black Sunburst finish shows off the quilt figure without being flashy about it.

The set neck joint gives you better sustain and resonance than a bolt on, and the access to the upper frets is significantly better than most single cuts at this price point. The mahogany body gives you the warm, thick fundamental that single cut guitars are known for, and the quilted maple top adds clarity and definition on top of that. The combination is why this body style has been the go to for heavy players for decades.

The EMG 81 in the bridge is the standard for high gain guitar playing. It is tight, articulate, and handles heavy distortion without getting muddy. The EMG 60 in the neck is warmer and more musical for clean tones and lead playing, and it cleans up well when you roll back the volume. Active pickups also mean a very low noise floor, which matters in a live or recording situation where single coil hum would be a problem.

The EC-400 QM is built on LTD's EC platform, which is ESP's take on the classic single cut format. The construction quality, hardware, and electronics are all a step above what you find in the EC-256 or EC-1000 entry level range.
