Some guitars are tools. This one is an experience. The Yamaha Revstar RSS02T in Fired Red is the kind of guitar that changes how you feel about playing. Not because of the specs on paper but because of what happens the moment you plug it in and hit that first chord.
Yamaha built the Revstar for players who are done looking like everyone else on stage. The design pulls from Japanese cafe racer motorcycle culture and it shows. This guitar has a personality. It has attitude. And in a world full of Strats and Les Pauls that all start to blur together, the Revstar stands completely on its own.
The chambered mahogany body with maple top is where the magic starts. Chambering keeps the weight down so you can play a three hour gig without your shoulder giving out, but it also adds resonance and sustain that a fully solid body sometimes lacks. The maple top brings snap and clarity on top of the mahogany warmth. The result is a guitar that sounds full and alive both acoustically and plugged in.
The VH5 plus P-90 style pickups are the real story here. Yamaha took everything that makes P-90s legendary and refined it for modern players. The neck pickup is warm and vocal with that thick midrange that makes blues leads sing and sustain forever. The bridge pickup has real bite and focus without getting shrill or harsh when you push the gain. These pickups work for blues, rock, indie, alternative, and hard rock without breaking a sweat. Three way toggle, two volume, two tone. Simple and intuitive exactly the way it should be.
The mahogany neck with medium C profile and satin finish is what I call an invisible neck. You stop thinking about it within five minutes because it just works. The rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets plays smooth and fast. Bends are effortless. Chords ring clean all the way up the neck. Locking tuners keep you in tune through the whole set. And the Fired Red finish is deep and rich with a subtle quality that catches stage lighting in a way that makes people stop and look.
Deluxe gig bag is included. This is not a flimsy throwaway bag. It is actually protective and well made.
At 929 dollars this guitar plays and feels like instruments that cost significantly more. Players in New Albany, Columbus, Westerville, Dublin, and all across central Ohio are discovering what the Revstar can do. This is the guitar you pick up and stop searching. Come hear it for yourself.
